I wouldn't automatically think the worst. Elevations of ALT and ALP together tends to point to something biliary. What investigations are planned next for you? Ultrasound might not be the best scan for checking for gall stones (which would be the most common issue to cause ALP rises). Certainly ultrasound never saw my hubbies ones, it was picked up on MRI and he went on to have an ERCP.
Have they done any auto immune marker tests as there are also two A.I. conditions that can affect bile ducts.
Lots to get checked out before you terrify yourself into thinking worse case scenario situations.
Hi, My liver bloods are fairly similar (ALT 87 and ALP 177). Like Katie says, initially they did say it was probably something biliary, but, in the end it was put down to fatty liver . Did your ultrasound show any fat in the liver?
Your bloods are not massively high but obviously are elevated. You wouldn't necessarily see anything on ultrasound if it is a biliary issue. More blood tests probably required ....... auto immune tests perhaps.
Try not to worry (easier said than done, I know!) Hopefully you have a follow-up appointment with your GP, where you can ask for further tests? Is it a one-off set of results? My own GP/hepatologist said my results are only slightly raised and they look at trends, rather than a one-off set of bloods.
Hopefully, all will go well for you and it will turn out to be just a "blip" or something that they have caught early and can treat. Fingers-crossed for you!
