Hi Ksvlm,

We are sorry to hear you are struggling. We have seen your previous posts about your condition and we would urge you to talk things through with your own health care professional or doctor, only they will be able to advise you on your condition.

If you are in the UK and would find it useful to talk things over, we have a nurse-led helpline which is open Monday 9am to 3pm and Tuesday to Friday 9am to 4pm on 0800 652 7330 excluding bank holidays.

Here you can also find some information on varices: elht.nhs.uk/services/endosc...

Best wishes,

British Liver Trust

Hi I share many of your problems including asophagal varies. These aren’t an indication of stage of cirrhosis. My consultant has me on beta blockers to regulate blood pressure - the varices can recede or be operated on to put strengthening bands around them. It’s important that they are monitored by endoscopy as it can be serious if they rupture. Please try to keep positive and do reach out to your doctors and the Liver Trust. My best and sincere wishes for your improvement, C

I also have oesophageal varices. Cirrhosis and Type 2 diabetes. I was put on Beetablockers for them.

I too am scared stiff of choking. Bleeding and everything else that goes with it.

I was Diagnosed A year ago.

I have compensated LD, I too had varices. I take Carvedilol, and have done for 6 years, I no longer have varices, but still take the Beta blockers. I too was frightened about the varices so researched it a lot and stressing about it is normal, and BB have a fantastic. Try and relax perhaps look at meditation, or use positive affirmations eg, varices can heal, that helped me when worried. Good luck.
