I just had my yearly endoscopy to check on my varices. Prior to being put under I told the gi doctor I hope they are gone. She said it’s extremely unlikely. I said well I been praying for it and believe they are. I’m no holy roller but do have faith. When I woke up she smiled and said they are gone! Wooohoooo!

Thank you everyone. I truly hope somehow my liver has repaired some of the damage and no longer have portal hypertension. My wife and I are extremely happy.
I would be lost without this place and am truly great full for all of the support everyone gives on here!
🙏I too am a firm believer in having faith. Well done.I have had 5 annual endoscope and never have anaesthetic, just the numbing throat spray. After the procedure, I sit in the ward having tea and biscuits and see the patients in bed still out for the count and I think thank goodness I dont have to be put under! That was how I felt until the last Endo!!! It was brutal, as the mouthpiece slipped ..............
(I prefer not to describe what happened) suffice to say, I told the Doctor it was the worst Endo ever; he wasnt phased in the slightest and simply said "everything was normal"! Next time will be anaesthetic!
Wow, I couldn’t do it without being put out. I don’t even think you get a choice here. Lol. Sorry to hear about your experience. I can’t imagine what you went through.
Thank you MLB. I had heard of it being possible but wasn’t totally sure. Now I am. I started to Google it but stopped. I wonder if this has happened to anyone else on here?
Hello Bobbycat. Have you had cirrhosis for 20 years? If so you are an inspiration. I stopped because Google returns results that are worst case. However I saw one study where two people had varices disappear by the NIH but that was with some kind of treatment I believe. After that the results are how long can you live with them etc. I didn’t want to cause unnecessary anxiety.
So happy for you and your wife. It's amazing what our body can do. Please take care and look after yourself. Your future is extremely valuable and you can build a lifetime's memories to treasure.
Thanks! will find out when I get testing and see my specialist Monday and Tuesday. That’s what I’m hoping. I’m hoping the portal vein hypertension has gone away.
