I have just had a telephone call from my Liver Consultant. He gave me an update from first being told I would receive radiotherapy, this has now changed. I have to have a repeat CT scan and an MRI scan. Once I have these they are now looking at operating on the part of the liver where the cancer is. I have gone through three biopsies for the decision to be made.
It is a waiting time now as to when all this will happen,
I am going to remain strong as best as I can, have positive thoughts and fight after the operation to come through the light in the tunnel (not the end).

Hi Mick, I’m sorry your treatment plans been changed but the more scans they do, the better they know what’s going on and can decide on the best treatment for you. Don’t be afraid to ask them why they are recommending the treatment that they are. And if you have views, concerns or preferences let them know. It’s important to feel like you have some control. Or maybe that’s just me!
Yes, you must remain Positive, as the saying goes 'Nothing is impossible if you believe"! From what you have said, I feel that your Consultants wouldn't operate if they didn't feel it would be a positive outcome. Embrace it with the firm belief that you will have a healthier outlook to enjoy life. 🙏
We facilitate a range of virtual support groups for people living with a liver condition (and their families and carers). This includes one for liver cancer which next meets in September.
If you [are in the UK and] would find it helpful to speak to others with shared experience, you can register to join a group here
Have you had an MRI scan before? They keep the scanner rooms very cold. You don't notice so much with a CT as they tend to be quite quick, but you can get very cold with a long MRI. Wear warm socks!
sending you positive thoughts. Your positive attitude will get you through this. Sometimes the hurdles keep coming. And getting through them with a positive attitude. Is the only way !!!
What hospital are you under? I had liver resection last year and I was dreading it, they took cancer from the right and benign tumour from left. But to be honest it was ok as far as a major operation can go. The pain was so much less than anticipated. My cut was 40cm in length in the shape of a J. Have faith in your medical team. Hopefully you will know soon and cut that cancer out. All the best
Oh not all that far from me, but I’m under Southampton. I’m sure they will look after you, just keep talking to them and not hassling them but making sure you are on the list and not being forgotten. Keep us posted x
I am having a CT Scan also MRI Scan today and a blood test. Hopefully, once this is done my consultant will give me a date for the operation if all goes well. He mentioned that he is concerned about my other medical conditions and will have a meeting with other consultants who deal with the other ailments I have. Fingers crossed a date will be given.
