Hello everyone, I just wanted to share something that is probably blindingly obvious to most people, but apparently not to me.When I first came out hospital, for around a month I slept up to 16 hours a day, which was part of my body healing. I've always had insomnia as an adult linked to mental health issues, and as I started to recover it came back with a vengeance. I kept a sleep diary and in one week I slept a total of nine hours, the longest sleep being two hours. I felt like the walking dead.
It improved but I was still only getting around four hours sleep a day. In desperation I changed my mattress for the firmest one I could get and the transformation was instant and incredible. I now get five or six hours a night and an hour nap late afternoon if I feel a bit burnt out. It goes without saying this has done wonders for my sense of wellbeing both physically and mentally. Maybe something to consider if you're having sleep problems, you have my sympathy and best wishes if you are, it can really grind you down.
PS I've also found it seems to reduce muscle cramps in my calves and feet.

hi, I’m so pleased you got a better night sleep and the mattress did the trick, I’m getting one cause I don’t sleep due to painful feet, but I have and am trying with foot rubs with oils or cream, and I have been told I have ptsd I have a recurring nightmare they called it an hallucination due to being in a coma, may your good night sleep’s continue
that is great news! It’s amazing how sometimes a small change can make so much difference. I recently had a vicious bout of insomnia that pushed me over the edge. The paramedic I saw suggested trying the Sleepio app (NHS approved). - it is working wonders but is a bit challenging. Sleep on!
A little piece of healthy fortune achieved by chance (the art of serendipity)! Well done, so very pleased for you and for sharing with everyone here. It's these little nuggets of useful info that go a long way in helping others.
