Hi do anybody know anything about cap score? What shouldn't it be above & also for kPa. Can having moving gallstones cause stiffness in liver?? Gallstones are causing no pain ATM. Thanks
Cap & kPa: Hi do anybody know anything... - British Liver Trust
Cap & kPa
CAP reveals the amount of fatty change in the liver. A CAP between 238 and 260 reveals S1 (Steatosis Grade 1) - less than 1/3 or 11-33% of liver is fatty, 260 to 290 is S2 meaning between 1/3 and 2/3 or 34 to 66% fatty and anything from 290 to 400, is S3 or more than 2/3 or 66% fatty.
kPa is the stiffness score but what that means in terms of degree of stiffness i.e
F0 to F4 varies depending on what the underlying condition is.
If there is ongoing inflammation in the liver the kPa score can potentially be falsely inflated as fibroscan can't differentiate between actual fibrous tissue and inflamed tissue so results from the scan need to be looked at in conjunction with the results of all other tests.

Hi all I know is it should be between 2-5 anything above 75 is supposed to be a fatty liver
male 42 years old here my Kia was 75. Cap score 227. Life long vodka drinker. Currently navigating this complex road. Have upcoming mri an liver biopsy. Anyone please feel free to comment. Best wishes to all
Your 75 kPa may be a false high if you have very inflated blood tests just now. Often when people score the full 75 it's the result of inflammation rather than actual fibrous tissue, however, there is some chance that there is fibrosity or even cirrhosis and you'll get the full story once you have the further tests and results.

Thank you for your response. It is very much appreciated. I came across your replies to numerous people here. I have to say you seem very knowledgeable. I’m sure it helps people in my situation when one is in between results and further testing but has no other place to ask questions. Again thank you so much🙏
Jo’s was 75. Typo. Apologies
