Good afternoon, would you be able to let me know if it's safe to take Ibuprofen after a fall to ease the pain, I'm still waiting for test results for liver problems, so unsure at the moment of the diagnosis. Kind regards Karen Bear

I have been taking Codeine whilst I’m hospital :)

I have a diagnosis of PBC and my specialist said if I am in pain I can take ibuprofen but only as a very short term solution. It’s when you need pain meds long term you should not take it. And paracetamol is preferable to ibuprofen but sometimes you just know it’s ibuprofen you need.

Looking at the scores in your previous post you should avoid ibuprofen. It can cause internal bleeding.

Paracetamol (max 2 pills 4x a day) is safer.

I wouldn’t take Ibuprofen. Seek advise from your Doctor/Specialist about taking paracetamol. They can also prescribe stronger paracetamol based pain killers if necessary ….avoiding further damage to your liver!

I have always been told do not take Ibuprofen in any form, paracetamol or codine is ok. But please ask your liver team, I hope your pain goes soon.

Stay safe All
