Hi anyone used a tens machine for pain relief, slipped on a grass slope walking my dog and I'm in agony, spent 15hr in A.E. they sent me away with a pair of crutches no pain relief, any other pain relief suggestions would be appreciated. Diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver 6 Mt's ago with weight loss, dramatically changing my diet and exercise ( walking my dog lol) my liver is compensated and my bloods normal.

Did they x-ray you? I only ask because sometimes with cirrhosis you can suffer bone thinning meaning simple accidents can potentially lead to fractures. (My brother who has osteoporosis [not liver related in his case] actually sustained a spine fracture after sneezing).
If pain persists you need to be re-examined. Medicinal pain relief and what is ok for you is normally guided by your own medical team. TENS should be ok, hot water bottle etc.

I used a tens machine not for back pain but when I was having my babies.
The sensation is sort of prickly, and I think its useful for spasm pain or pain that comes in waves because it gives you another sensation to focus on.
Does it work? Well, I have a fairly high pain threshold but had 2 babies naturally with only tens and gas and air and the second one of those babies was breech, so I'd say yes.
Hi There, I've used a tens multiple times and they are brilliant. once you get the frequency right, the pain relieve in my shoulder and back is kept at bay and manageable. Make sure the tens isn't turned up to high though as it can be painful. I hope this helps? Mike
