Are there any recommended sauces/condiments to use with NAFLD?
I've not seen any recent, well researched information that suggests hot sauce will damage your liver. If you ditch alcohol, high fat and fried foods, but keep the hot sauce, I'm fairly certain you'll be making the right choice.
I honestly don't think hot sauce is anything to worry about. For every article saying it's bad for the liver, you'll find one that says capsaicin has protective effects! 🤷 Plus as it's a condiment, you're only having small amounts at a time anyway. I won't be without my hot sauce, I have a fridge full 😂
Agree with the others - a small amount of hot sauce won’t do any damage. There’s nothing in it that’s damaging to be honest. There may be a tiny amount of white wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar. When I was first diagnosed in March 21 I gave up alcohol. Haven’t touched any since. I was a bit paranoid about foods that may have alcohol in them. White wine/red vine/cider vinegars all spooked me. My dietician explained that the process of making the vinegar means there is a tiny residual amount of alcohol in them but the quantities that are used in recipes is such that it really posed no issue. I’d enjoy your hot sauce.
