I was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis after an 8 year long battle with chronic health. I was then put on 40mg of prednisolone and it took a long time for them to reduce and after two months I started to have moon face and a more rounded stomach.
I am now starting 5mg from tomorrow and was wondering how long did it take some people to start to see the moon face go down. It has been extremely difficult as I just don't recognise myself and I would have never carried weight especially in my face!
I completely understand that this is the process of getting healthy but it has been really tough!

Hi, sorry to say this but hubbie was also on prednisone (lower dose than you) for about 18 months. He didnt fully improve (lose the weight gain if you would call it that) until he came off it but there was a slight improvement after a couple of months when it was reduced. Please keep an eye (excuse unintended pun) on your eye sight too. Hubbie had cataracts caused by steroids that he became aware of about 6 months- to a year after he came off them. It's not common but keep it in mind if you notice a change in your eye sight. I wish you well .
Thanks so much for responding and appreciate the tips on the eye sight (I haven't noticed anything but worth keeping an eye on).
I was on the higher dose with small reductions every few weeks for around 3 months. I've noticed a slight change in reduction of my face and weight so hoping it will improve now I am on 5mg.
Hi. I had a similar dose of steroids, reducing to 5mg after 6 months. My doctor told me it would take three months once off them for moon face to go. I think it took a lot longer but I'm back to 'normal' now. I also had the beginnings of cataracts which stopped developing once I was on the lower dose.
