Devistated my hair is falling out

I am on various meds for AIH/PBC which is bad enough. But now my hair is falling out. It's making me so sad. What with that and my moon face, bloating, itching and tiredness I'm so fed up, and quickly getting more and more depressed.

Are you taking Ursodeoxycholic acid for the PBC. A side effect, though not a common one, of this drug is hair thinning or hair loss. If you are taking this drug, you should report the hair loss to your specialist - or at least that's the advice of the pharma company who make the drug.

I'm on quite a few of meds Urso, prednisolone, adcaln3d,omeprazole,alendronic acid and I was on azathroprine but went to see my consultant on Friday and he thinks that's causing the hair loss so now I'm on mycophenolate m ofetil. I have also started getting muscle spasms anyone who doesn't have these conditions has no idea how ill you can feel. I sometimes can't phisically get out of bed, some people think I'm a fake which also makes me sad as I would give anything to not have PBC/AIH. Th anks for youe support x

I have AIH & my said was falling out. My consultant advised me I was loosing 2 years of the normal hair loss but it would grow again which it has. I believe mine was due to a high dose age of steroids which I finished taking 18 months ago.

Hi Happybunny! I just posted about falling hair. My hair falling out even when I wash my face. It is sad with all other stuff going on. Someone replied that some superficial things (hair) give way for liver to use energy on more cleansing. At least we don’t have Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s and other conditions. They say hair may grow back if you’re on healthy diet and getting rights nutrients. I just bought a new wig. I’m going to try Minoxidil. New look for me. Good luck be happy. Beefeater

My sympathies happy bunny I also have AIH and the symptoms you have so feeling your pain. I have been trying to enjoy the small things and not think about the big issues..
