hi my daughter has been having nose bleeds she has cirrhosis is this common

Yes nosebleeds are very common with cirrhosis. It is worth investigating further though. I have cirrhosis and was anaemic when first diagnosed and also having very heavy nosebleeds. I was very lucky to have an inquisitive GP who also had an interest in ENT. I was having a lot of investigations for the anaemia - endoscopy, colonography and my consultant had started talking about capsule endoscopy - when my GP decided to cauterise my nose. It worked! Nosebleeds stopped, anaemia went. I still get very minor nosebleeds if I sneeze a lot or bang my nose….but I’ve had those kind since I was a child and are no different. The very heavy nosebleeds are in the past.

Yes…nosebleeds are common…my husband and I had some very scary days… I had a few that lasted for hours I had them for weeks and then they just stopped.🤗 when I blow my nose I do it very gentle just to be safe. They have not returned. Good luck!!

hi, yes I never had a nose bleed in my life till just after my diagnoses for cirrhosis, very bad for couple of weeks then just small ones every now and then

As others have said, yes this is common in cirrhosis. If this is a new symptom, just make her medical team aware at her next clinic appointment so they can keep track of symptoms.

What's her INR l3vels.. cirrhosis elevants , I used to have nose n gum bleeds all the time, now INR lever back to normal.. Feb 2023 (12months ago) I was in resus, liver failure and kpa of 75, I now live a normal health life minus alcohol.. just get 6 monthly check ups..

Yes. An oncologist suggestion i use protein mix once a day and it stopped them. She said that protein built up the blood vessel walls making them less fragile.
