My Nose WILL Fall Off!

If it gets any colder I am fearful my nose will fall off....lol....people with liver disease should be allowed to hibernate in the winter months.....

I know it's a symptom of liver disease and my tx co-ordinator informed me that us with livers that don't work so well might be colder than most other people, I used to feel the cold anyway but now, I just feel like my insides are ICE! lol....

I am becoming the queen of tea just so I can hold a cup to keep my hands warm! ha ha

Stay safe, stay warm and most of all stay happy!! x

I was diagnosed with PBC about 7 months ago. Stage 3 severe fibrosis. I really hope that I will have as good an attitude as you do if my condition gets any worse. I'll be sending prayers for you that your tx comes soon.

Best wishes, Pam

Ah thank you Pam. Don't get me wrong I have days when I just want to stay in bed and days when I don't want to see people. All I keep thinking is there are people worse off than me, so I have to get up and I have to be the best version of me I can be.

I work which helps my mental state, I couldn't just sit at home, my colleagues are pretty great in listening to me chirp on about all the medical nonsense.

I have lovely family that are there if I need them too....everyday I get stopped in my tracks with the pain I experience or have a moment of wishful thinking that my call will come, but then the pain goes away a little and the call doesn't come so I move on and smile for a bit before it hits me all again!

The world is still turning and things have to get better. I hope your condition stays stable and you don't get any more poorly.

Chelle xx

Hehe, I remember those days. Sat in the office in the middle of summer wearing my big thick woolly jumper and my coat on while everyone else is sat there in their shirt slieves hogging the office fan. At least I didn't have to iron my shirts though. Post transplant I've now had to regain those ironing skills.

Post transplant, I have decided life is too precious to iron. So I don't. Wendy x

I haven't left the house, I find once the cold gets in my bones it takes days to warm up. It was my birthday yesterday and we were planning on going out for dinner, but both me and my husband thought it wasn't a good idea to get cold. He'd have to suffer the moaning etc!!!

I know my thermostat doesn't work, I've been on a beach in sweltering heat and I had to put on a cardigan as I got all shivery!!!

So I totally know what you mean chelle, hope you stay warm!! X

I used to walk around with a hot water bottle. Took it everywhere. My sons house, holiday..... everywhere. My bestest friend. Took it to hospital once (when varices burst.) Used to slip into the nurses tea room to top it up. Hubby got quite jealous of it in bed. It had more cuddles than he did. Keep smiling Chelle. X

Love the chat everyone, but you got me wondering about some post spinal injury symptoms I have had. Pre the damage to my spinal cord I was a potty ( unfortunately temperature wise not out and out gorgeous wise). Since the injury I have a north south divide. Top half t shirt girl or at best long sleeves and the windows open, bottom half I love my merino wool thermals, which I buy at sale times. I wear these most of the year. Summer under lining trousers, winter under cords. Do all of you feel cold all over or just in certain areas of your body?

P.s. Dulux I'm going to show my age and say I remember on a children's radio programme a song that was called Frosty the snowman. Apparently it was a hit for Gene Autry in 1950. Before you ask I wasn't born when it was first released. Just feels it sometimes. I think I was given a reconditioned body rather than a new one when I was born and that's why bits keep breaking down. Might explain why I like music from the 50's

I'm all over, in particular feet, hands, face, back & bottom.....

If I remember correctly consumed fat is used to control the temperature of your body, if your too hot you sweat, if your too cold, you get goose-bumps, and shiver as a mechanism of keeping yourself warm...the body is very clever....

Oh this is interesting - cos Ive always been a really chilly bod, yet recently Ive been saying I feel noticeably warmer - I assumed it was another little side effect of my poor liver struggling with stuff. Is it just me? Is it some switch that gets thrown to the opposite of whatever it was before? I dont care - I LOVE not being cold!! Sorry....!!

I'm on my way into hospital for a couple of weeks, most of my luggage is blankets & a dressing gown to put an Eskimo to shame.

I hate being cold.

I put a fleece lined blanket on my bed last night with the electric blanket...made a huge difference. Take care in hospital (not that you can get into too much trouble) Maybe your call will come while your there x

A had a bed day today. A cold really got hold of me and the coughing made walking difficult. A bit dizzy as well. Must admit my timing was spot on with the weather. Been snowing here. Heating working, nice warm duvet round my legs and cups of tea in bed.

Almost worth feeling rough.

Hi chelle , only just read your post

Oh i am suffering bad with this cold spell. I have my central heating on most of the day, at night i wear 2 pairs of socks.pyjamas.onesie and fleece lined bed top. Electick blanket with my duvet and a thick bed fleece. How i hate having to get out of bed each morning. Even my chilblains are back in my feet and yet i have not suffered for many years with these. I feel for you and everyone suffering.. wrap up .eat plenty of nutrition, drink hot drinks and stay safe. My liver must be struggling 🙄.x

In bed keeping warm, coughing, with a nose like Rudolph. I just went through the links again and a thought came to me. A calendar of liver patients. I thought about it and had this image in my head of each month showing a picture of one of us really wrapped up in winter woollys, really thick duvets, a big roaring fire with one of us huddled around it etcetera. A strap line saying damaged liver affects more than what you can eat or drink. Can you imagine a picture of a good sunny day in August on the beach in winter clothes?

Sorry feeling sorry for myself with the cold and needed to think of something to cheer me up.

Loved your post and thank god that you shared that cold inside your body it's strange but I get that as well and funny enough me daughter said why don't I get tortoise as they stay in bed all winter , think I do anyway never leave me bedroom .

Your quit safe Chelle,

your nose won't fall off, your too young for that to start happening. When you get to my age that's when things start to fall off, fall out, and generally don't work any more. Hair on the head becomes a distant memory, but is replaced with an abundance of both nasal and ear hair. The eyebrows start to go mental too. Gravity becomes a problem too. You could try and take both your front teeth out, then you'd have central eating. Ha Ha.

Having said that, try to embrace the cold weather, after all it's telling you just how good it is to be alive.

Chelle,

when I mentioned to my husband's liver doctor that my husband, who used to be hot all the time, is now cold since his liver failure he just laughed. The doctor said that is the most common complaint he hears from wives, I'm guessing he mostly meant those of us who are post-menapause. The doctor said it is something I'll need to get used to.

The hubby and I have switched temperature comfort - I used to be cold all the time, now he is, he used to be hot all the time, now he's cold.

At night we just add a blanket to his side of the bed and I look over and am just so thankful he is still here and mostly improving.

Good luck to you,

Mary
