My doctor advice me for fibroscan, how can I understand my fibroscan result
Hi Bikibqa, usually with fibroscan you get two main results a median CAP score and a median kPa score. CAP reflects how much fatty change there is in the liver so with a known fatty liver you might expect an elevated CAP score.
A CAP score of 238 to 260 dB/m reflects Steatosis grade 1 Less than ⅓ (11% to 33%) is affected by fatty change. A score of 260 to 290 dB/m is Steatosis grade 2 Between ⅓ and ⅔ (34% to 66%) is affected by fatty change and 290 to 400 dB/m is Steatosis grade 3 More than ⅔ (67%) is fatty.
kPa reveals if there is an fibrous change in the liver and depending on the score you get for this (and also taking into account other factors like ongoing inflammation etc) it can give an idea of what stage of fibrosity is perhaps present from F0 (normal liver) through F1 (mild fibrosis), F2 (Moderate Fibrosis), F3 (Severe fibrosis sometimes with bridging - also sometimes referred to as incomplete cirrhosis), F4 (Cirrhosis).
Your doctor or whoever ordered the fibroscan should interpret your results for you.
