My consultant physician did a surveillance Gastroscopy which showed 2 varices grade 2, as I was taking Carvedilol twice daily he has decided no further action is required. Having had a burst varice in the past which put me in hospital for a week. I am confused to why he’s decided not to band them surely prevention is better than cure ? I have a telephone consultation booked for March. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

my preference would be to band then also. I was in a similar position grade 2 Varicies but the difference was I had yet to start cardeveilo. 6 weeks later I was in A&E and had to have banding. I wish they handed them when I had my first endoscopy
My husband had an endoscopy in 2019 and told he had two grade two varices since then they have never been mentioned again he has never had another endoscopy to check them and never had any problem with them.
In similar position as bs5214 above— endoscope, then carvedilol. 18 months on no consultant contact at all, no follow up scans. Until couple of days ago my GP was unaware of the situation until I told him !
