Pins and needles

Recently diagnosed with compensated cirrhosis. I have had a couple of what I called "daily niggles", but the one that is really getting me down are pins and needles. Started off with just one finger, the right hand one next to my "pinkie" and it only comes on when I go to bed. It wakes me up and takes a good half hour to ease up and go away in the morning. It is now affecting my other hand, albeit mildly, but I cannot fathom why this only happens at bedtime. Went to an osteopath and told him of my cirrhosis diagnosis. He said the problem was in the middle of my back, an area which is somehow linked to the liver.

Has anyone else experienced this? I am waiting to speak with my gastro consultant ( having waited 5 months for the appointment) on Friday.

Is this related to my condition?

Many thanks, in advance, for any advice you may have.

I had tingly fingers when I was first diagnosed with cirrhosis. I also had a lot of muscle pain. As my health improved the tingly fingers and aches and pains completely disappeared. I ceased drinking…haven’t touched a drop in nearly 3 years, and dramatically improved my diet in line with dietician advice.

Hi there, I was a heavy drinker and have exactly the same symptoms, I've been sober for nearly 12 years in February, however after stopping drinking I thought I'd be OK, and I was, but after 3 months i started getting various ailments, I started getting pins and needles in my feet mainly, and terrible burning sensation in my feet, I also have the same problem in my hands, but it gets worse in cold weather as well, however the feet issues were the first problem that started up originally and muscle spasms, maybe you have neuropathy, nerve damage, my hand sometimes cramps over holding my mobile phone, and it's worse at night as well, various vitamins have been robbed from the body whilst I was drinking and not eating, and also I was diagnosed with B12 deficiency a few years later, this also has similar symptoms, but a simple injection helps keep the condition at bay,I hope you can get a diagnosis and things improve for you soon, best wishes .

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I have been diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome by my GP. Am awaiting appointment for operation, which I hope gets rid of it as it is having a huge impact on my life. The Cirrhosis...I wouldn't even know I had it had it not been diagnosed. Time will tell how it progresses but, at the moment, all good.

Thanks again
