albumin levels and ascites

Am I correct in thinking that albumin levels effect ascites? And if so what are the ways to keep those levels into a normal range.

My consultant said plenty of protein in your meals.

my partner (who has cirrhosis) just found over time as his liver function improved his albumin levels stabilised too. This definitely had an impact on fluid retention
