That's really a question for your own health care team. Generally NSAIDS are a no no but at 77 years young your quality of life is paramount and some sort of pain meds may be ok.

If you check with your Dr or pharmacist the answer will almost Definatly be no.Anti inflamitory such as nurofen ibuprofen and asprin increase the risk of internal bleeding.
I'm with Katie on this one. Generally, the usual anti-inflammatory tablets are not recommended in those with advanced liver disease. However, your circumstances are somewhat different and as Katie says, quality of life is also important.
This is definitely something you need to discuss with your gp or one of your specialists. They will work with you to find the best solution for you. Sometimes, its ok to do things a little differently. Its just about getting the right balance between the risks the meds could have on your liver compared to the benefits to your overall health that would come with them. They want you to have a life not just to live. So they will look at your individual circumstances and come up with a plan thats right for you.
Your GP would probably be a good start as they can discuss your case with the specialists to come up with a plan on your behalf.
Good luck
I take ibuprofen 2 to 3 times a week for neck pain. Usually go under recommended dosage. I never take Tylenol. I have read and heard different opinions from doctors. In the same boat as you, I compromised. Remember if a doctor doesn’t know, they will say no and they may be right. Good luck with everything. God bless.
Have you ever tried Upper cervical Chiropractor for your neck pain
Everything, Neck and shoulders have taken a lot of trauma over the years. The ibuprofen doesn’t seem to bother my liver. Just going by what I’ve read. Doctor says it’s ok. Have read some doctors saying don’t go above recommended dosage. Some articles say don’t take it at all. Good luck.
Dear PAT10000
As other forum members have advised, this is a question that your own health care professional is best placed to answer.
We suggest talking this through with your own doctor or health care professional in the first instance.
Best wishes

Hi,
I’m addition to a compensated liver disease I also have very arthritic knees and used to take NSAID drugs. I raised this with my GP who wrote to my Consultant at the hospital. They have said NSAID drugs are a no no but I can take prescribed amounts of Paracetamol or Codeine to manage the pain.
As no doubt said already everybody’s liver disease can present a variety of different problems. So go talk to your GP or Consultant asap to find what’s best for you.
