nearly 5yrs alcohol free. Recent fibroscope has gone from 80+ to 40. But I still have cirrhosis (with no symptoms and normal blood results). Can I be optimistic that my liver is recovering or will it never recover ?

You will always have cirrhosis but it (probably) won't kill you.
