A short update about my transplant last week late night

Rose2000 profile image

Hi everyone,

My transplant was done last week. I was so much worried and terrified.

The operation went well, I’m recovering slowly, lots of medication and cares are involved.

Your kind words and support helped me so much to go through this difficult journey.

Thanks every one of you who had your best wishes for me last week. It meant a lot.

Thanks again

You all are brilliant. xx

Rose , Genuinely great to hear this (been on the back of my mind since you got the call) I think this unusual group of people, that mostly have never met, turn into a virtual family when we hear news like yours. Do take very good care and here's to the future. Chris x

Hey Rose, I'm guessing you're approaching three weeks (maybe less) either way it's been a couple since we checked in so just seeing how you're doing? Cx

Hi Chris, sorry for reading late your post. and thanks for thinking about me. Actually from Friday I started my 4 weeks PT, in liver aspect I’m fine.

On Saturday I felt so bloated when I woke up, I was very uncomfortable, after a few hours I started to throwing up then hospital, they said because of operation intestines is lazy or may be some touching to intestines while doing operation. I don’t know exactly what happened. I feel better at the moment no throwing up but still bloated and in hospital. I don’t know anyone gets swelling in tummy after operation and after eating. My problem hasn’t been sorted out properly yet. You take care. Rose xx

How are things this morning Rose? Are they managing the bloating and nausea? Gastro intestinal problems after transplant are common (knowing that doesn't make it less uncomfortable though) sometimes it's just the post surgical upset from the scale of the intervention plus the anaesthetic but also immunosuppressants can be behind the upset. Tweaking these is a work in progress and a bit balancing act...you'll get there. Do keep us posted when you're able. Cx

Hi Chris, I’m fine, they couldn’t find any reason for bloating. I had twice CT scan, didn’t show anything wrong.

The only problem has left is the blood pressure management. I got this problem after TP. I’m a bit worried about the kind of blood pressure medicine and side effects of it. The medicine given to me is Doxazosin .

This has lots of side effects that mentioned in the leaflet. Some of them are, effect on liver function, could causes jaundice, heart attack, stroke and much much more , it’s scary. I discussed all of these with doctors but they are not concerned and asked me to take it.

Take care xx

I read your good news. You must be so happy. Keep up with the good work.

Thanks so much. I hope everything goes well without any complications. You take care and all the best.🙏

Wishing you well in your new life, because that's what it feels like. You'll soon get used to your meds and when you do they will change them.

Take things slowly and no lifting even if you think you can.

Hi Rose

So glad to hear that your T/P went ahead and you are OK, take your time to recover. Its a bit daunting with the info you receive before leaving hospital and believe me in a week or two you get used to your meds and the daily times/amounts.

take care and remember - small steps at a time.

thinking of you PPx

Hi Rose Haven’t been on for over a year and thought I’d drop in again

after I had a liver DBD transplant in feb 2019 I’d like to add that I wish you well and also to everyone who has been through this or will do.

It’s a long road, well was for me, I’m fifty two now and back in work doing normal duties, I go the gym three times a week and walking snowdon next week

However you’ll no doubt have days wondering if you’ll ever regain your fitness and I can reassure you you will. I’ve had bad anxiety during the last few years wondering if every ache and pain was something wrong, but I needn’t of worried.

Enjoy your new lease of life and take care

P.s don’t try to do too much, trust me I should of listened to that piece of advice from people on here lol

Wow so good news! You are talking about going back to the normal life. This is such a great news! I’m so glad for you. So encouraging! Thank you so much for giving me hope.🙏🌺

Congratulations take it easy and take care of yourself xx
