Firstly just wanted to say thank you so much for your wise words and support it has really helped me get through the past month of diagnosis. I haven’t heard from my liver consultant which is disgusting and do call / leave messages with his secretary but just get told ‘he will be in touch when he has spoken to the liver specialists in Birmingham and had the hospital team meeting’.
Anyway, my liver diagnosis was discovered after my blood platelets kept dropping. I was on azathoprine for 10 years to treat ulcerative colitis which worked but unbeknown to me until now has been causing liver cirrhosis. Anyway since off these meds my platelets were 85 (low) but now getting higher which is encouraging
I really hope this means my liver won’t get any worse. On Friday I’m having a ‘camera down my throat’ to check for bleeding - hope all ok as I’m dreading this .

Wow. That is just awful. You have a real case for medical negligence on this. No wonder he isn't answering your calls. Hope you are OK. Best wishes Golly x
Hi, I’m sorry to hear that your consultant hasn’t been in touch but it’s good that he’s talking to Birmingham, people talk highly of QE on here. Endoscopy is routine for people with cirrhosis so might be something you have regularly. I’d recommend you have sedation and you’ll need someone to drive you home for that. Hopefully you’ll get some answers from your consultant after that.
I had a camera down my throat about a month ago I also have chrons and was on the same tablet for many years along with other meds I found out I have crohnic liver disease along with portal hypertension I only got referred to the liver specialist when I told my gastroenterologist I had a vein running down my tummy so I was in complete shook when they told me I have varices in my throat it’s best you have the test it doesn’t hurt and it’s over in 5 mins I opted for sedation then you won’t get yourself worked up I hope it goes well just try and keep positive easier said then done sending you hugs good luck
