I know better not to smoke. Whilst quitting are losengers or patch ok to use.How much damage does smoking do to the liver? And is it the nicotine and/or the toxins in the smoke?

Smoking with cirrhosis
Anyone any advice pls x
Regarding damage, I imagine all of it is bad, just as if you didn't have cirrhosis - there is nothing good in a cigarette. Stopping completely is the best path, but we know it's easier said than done.
I know a combination of both lozenges and patches worked for friends and family members that tried to stop, but as with all medications and cirrhosis, only safe person to ask is your doctor,
I have recently successfully given up smoking. I used patches that were prescribed to me with the non smoking service. If you are in the UK google it (each local authority has a different service) and you will get support to stop smoking and can choose a type of nicotine replacement therapy that suits you.I also read easy way to quit smoking by Allan carr and that helped me more than the patches!
I quit smoking before my fatty liver diagnoses so don't know much about the relationship between the two, but it's so much better for your health overall to be a non smoker.
With the help of the book a can definitely say I'm pleased I have stopped smoking, and have not "given up" as that implies that I want to still be a smoker, and that I'm depriving myself of the "pleasure" of smoking. When in reality I have stopped doing something that was damaging my health, costing a fortune and ruining every activity due to wanting to leave to go outside for a cigarette!
