I posted on here a couple of weeks ago venting frustration at lack on communication of my consultant.
i had not been spoken to by a medic since August after being hospitalised for over 5 weeks in May/June last year. I since had blood tests in Sept, endoscopy, ultrasound and Fibroscan but no-on gave me any results so had no actual diagnosis in writing or update re my condition and noreview of medication.
I rung the consultants secretary to chase who told me he had left and due to this my ‘new’ consultant was extremelt busy. I left it another couple of weeks and rung again to be told the same thing.
In frustration I emailed the Patient Relations Dept at the hospital as i felt completely cut off, pointing out that this was my body and i wanted the courtesy of at least knowing what was going on! I felt better for actually putting it in writing as, obviously, there may be no record of telephone conversations.
Lo and behold 2days later I had a phone call from the hospital offering me a face to face appt next week!
I just wanted to tell anyone in my situation to try this route. Am sure they have patient satisfaction targets and have dutyof care to deal with concerns/complaints swiftly.
