Hi all, hope you are all well..I spoke to the staff at drs today asking for my dr to take another look at my bloods to try & see why they are up & down. Ggt was 699 now 479 & alp 332 now 279. Ultrasound was clear but dr has not given me any inclination as to the problem. Receptionist checked my notes & said bloods were abnormal but as expected. I need to know what’s wrong before things get any worse. She was going to talk to the dr but not till next week. Feels like I’m getting nowhere.

I can take a while for ggt to go back to normal, the good thing is that your labs are trending downward since you lowered or cut out alcohol. Obviously I don't know your whole story or what you do on the daily but it can take a very long time to see a normal GGT after stopping drinking. Just keep eating liver healthy goods and keep the poision put of your system and these labs should continue to drop. If the ultrasound doesn't ease your kind, get a fibroscan that will give you the legit answers on whether you have any fibrosis or fat.

Hi kurtymac, thanks for the reply. I have mentioned a fibroscan to the receptionist when i called but she said if the dr thought you needed one then she would have sent you for one. Maybe i should stop worrying & just listen to the drs. Ive not had any alcohol since new years eve, ive found it very easy actually not to have one, might be a struggle on my hols in april tho but i will try not to have a glass. Im eating better, trying to get exercise regular too. Hopefully things are gonna be better soon.

I cant stand that, is there a way to find a new doctor? I went through hell because I thought my liver was shot. It wasn't until a fibroscan that I got piece of mind. I had ultrasound, CT scans, labs, still couldn't shame the fear of liver disease. So I know how it feels, I found a doctor that finally agreed with a fibroscan. Also, I did a fibrsute blood test, that lined up with my fibrscao test. Just gotta keep the alcohol out of you system, I know easier said than done. The good thing is if you're in the clear, remember this, never go back. I'm at the point now where alcohol makes me feel sick because I trained my mind to think, "yuck, this stuff is terrible for me". It sounds like you're headed in a good direction. I used to keep up with this stuff everyday, I remember some people taking a year until GGT settled back to normal.

Hi, i might try to see another dr at my surgery & see what they have to say but getting an appointment is nearly impossible at the moment. Will keep off the drink as ive done great so far & actually enjoyed it not having any. Can i ask what levels your ggt & alp where & how you are now?
