Great advice

Had a very informative call today from a lovely lady connected to our doctors. I had been referred because I had a breakdown last Friday with worry. She suggested I email the doctor and ask for a referral for a visit from the district nurse.

I didn't know they are there to help the patient and families.

I am hoping it will go ahead so I get support to care for my husband, because I am feeling overwhelmed.

Just wanted to share this in the hope it may help others.

That's good news, hope they can support you to care for your husband and point you in the direction of support for yourself. Can they help unlock a care package for him and any additional pieces of equipment to make life easier at home? At least you know they are there for you as well as him xx

I feel like a weight has been lifted from me.I hope and pray they agree.

Not sure yet exactly what they do but it was intimated that she can work as a liaison point for on going care. They can sign post me to all kinds of help and support me through the medical mine field we are going to encounter.

Fingers crossed, I will keep you posted.

Hi, that’s fantastic news. Community nurses aka district nurses were fantastic with my Mum. They knew exactly what was needed and put everything in place before we even knew what we needed ourselves. They are incredibly supportive. You’ll be in good hands now.
