hello all,

Im new here and just after some advise.

2 years ago I was diagnosed with kidney cancer at 34 year old. I had surgery and have regular check ups, my latest scan being only a few weeks ago. Following my scan last year I was told I had 2 tumours in my liver and a MRI scan confirmed them to be FNH.

So today I got a call with my latest CT Scan results, they are now saying I have another tumour which they suspect is another FNH. They are sending me for another MRI but I’ve gone from having 2 to 3 in 12 months, and as far as I’m aware when I was first diagnosed with the tumour on my kidney in oct 2020 I didn’t have any liver tumours.

I haven’t been referred to see a liver consultant which I was surprised about, I’ve had to be quite firm today with my cancer nurse and say I want discuss this further with someone who specialises in livers. I haven’t a clue about FNH other than they are benign which of course is reassuring however it is common to have 3? And for them to have developed so close together in time?

thank you 😊

Hello,Isolated FNH is more common, but in 20% of cases there are multiple formations, sometimes in combination with hemangiomas. FNH occurs at any age, but most often in women 30-40 years old (80-95%). It's believed that the trigger for their occurrence may be a change in hormonal levels, although this has no reliable evidence.
