I would really love another tattoo but I'm not sure if it would be safe. Does anybody know if it would be OK? I should add that I have NAFLD as well as insulin dependent diabetes.

I have quite the large amount of tattoos and have been wanting to go BUT now, I don’t wanna scare ya or anything but a year ago when having my liver checked the doctor ordered a hep C test and it turned out I had at some point gotten hep C!! My doctor said I was one of the lucky ones who get it and whos body gets rid of it.

However with that being said, there’s still a chance I can contract Hep C again AND not fight it off this time! I can only think I must have contracted it from my tattoos even tho I had what I thought were the “best professional” artists work on me. I guess my advice is the advice I’m giving myself and it’s to do a lot of RESEARCH and find out all you can about the artist and be a complete germ phobe and make sure you watch them grab all new needles and clean!

I’ve been thinking about getting another tattoo for quite some time and even have the design that want.

I was diagnosed with cirrhosis (AR) last year so put my plan to have it done on hold.

I am lucky that my liver is working well and I’m living a healthy and normal/full life.

The one thing that has put me off having it done is the risks. Now that my liver is as good as it can be, do I really want to take a risk. I haven’t contracted Hep C from previous tattoos, but now that I feel like one of the lucky ones living with cirrhosis, is a tattoo that I really want worth it if it means taking the risk of potentially picking up something else that could attack my liver and cause unnecessary problems….

Weighing up what I want VS what is sensible for me has helped me make that decision (and I’m very stubborn and strong willed!!!)

The risks are much lower these days, but sod’s law and all that….😊

I comtemplated getting one but my platelets are low so I would bleed easy.. Not sure how much of an effect getting a tat would have on bleeding..

Most tattoists use, single use cartridges now days if your platelets are low spread the time of the tattoo over several sessions which I did for a full lower leg piece good luck with whatever u decide
