Fatty liver symptoms

For many years I have had fatty liver with no symptoms. It was discovered accidentally by my GP. Over the past 18 months I put on a lot more weight and for the past 6 months I have been feeling unwell with upset tummy, bloating, pain at lower right side and generally v unwell/tired. Blood test has shown high iron levels and my GP has booked me a liver scan.

I am worried as I thought fatty liver had no symptoms. Has anyone else had symptoms with it? Thanks very much

Most likely, your GP wants to rule out possible liver damage associated with high iron levels or hemochromatosis.

Thanks Fibro2021. When I looked up hemochromatosis it seemed to fit me. I have had fatty liver, groin pain and my skin has become extremely sun sensitive since menopause, with no explanation. I had never heard of hemo before. I will post back once I get my results.
