hi all,

I was just diagnosed today with NAFLD with a score that puts me into the advanced category, doc has referred me to the hospital .

I’m a classic case with high blood pressure and type two diabetes etc etc .

it feels like it’s gonna be a long long slog but it’s nice to now there are lots of us in the same situation.

Anyway, it nice to meet you all. #NAFLD

Hey! I also have diabetes with this disease... it does make things a bit harder but think of NAFLD as a warning sign to change life style. With the right support you can still reverse this and lead a happy, normal life.

I only joined here last saturdsy and theres alot of lovely people on here with good advice. You may still be able to reverse your diabetes as well as liver!

Think positive- stay positive- stay safe!

Thanks Lola, it’s all a bit daunting as it sounds pretty nasty in comparison to my other problems. It’s always good to talk with others I guess. 👍

One bit of good advice.... keep talking. If you have a bad day come on here and have a rant. Bottling up things makes you more anxious, moody, angry etc. We dont care- we all need to off- load at times. Best to off load on here than at your family at times.

I'm sure you'll get lots of advice on here about diet and exercise... take what you choose as something you could do- its quite nerve- racking thinking you can only eat lettuce and tomatoes... take your time processing info and start by making small choices because trying to do everything at once will cause relapses and low mood.

All the Best!

Hello fella, welcome. It's a great site this BLT forum. Some great folk, always helpful. Its alot to take on board nafld, so if you've got questions ask away.! Unfortunately I've got full on cirrhosis....you have the chance to turn things around fella. Good diet, low salt intake, if high blood pressure, no alcohol really..... I will be truthful...it is a long hard slog....well for me....bloods,ultrasounds, waiting for results etc. I'm waiting myself for results of latest bloods and ultrasound. But just keep in your mind, that you can turn your liver health around.....stick at it fella. My best .chris

Thanks, boo to the low salt as I do go overboard on it. Yes I have high blood pressure but thankfully rarely drink, maybe five units a month, so that’s one of the easy ones. I’m a milk and cheese lover, so no doubt I’ll have to knock those on the head. Easy to say, much more difficult in practise.

yes it is difficult ...especially at first. but slowly you get used to certain foods, different foods. understand the salt side of things, but I had no choice really as I was suffering with bad ascites, terrible fluid,as was in liver failure,as well as portal hypertension. but remember, slow and steady wins the race!. I just started walking steady, further and further. it is a bit scary at first.....but the first I knew,it was full on cirrhosis....your at an earlier stage,so can do things to turn it around. quite a few folk on here,me included didn't have that chance. you will learn more about it,and know how best to deal with it. take care. chris

Hi I'm the same high blood pressure, I'm pre diabetic, this site is amazing people are so lovely to talk to ,I do think I'm one of the lucky ones as I've had all the test scans which were showing my liver was getting worst ,I had a liver biopsy in May which showed my liver was fatty but a long way of from cirrhosis, and as they say on here keep talking ..

Hi--- similar set of circs myself, but gone into cirrhosis. Been on transplant waiting list 15 months now, but am generally feeling okay and managing. I have found this site a godsend, and the comradeship and advice has been so good. All docs and liver teams (QE- Birmingham and local liver team- South Wales) have all been super helpful. Good luck to you, hang in there! TAAR

Good luck and stay strong! You can beat this thing! I’m new to this as well but I haven’t had a biopsy yet. 2.5 months until I meet with a specialist.
