I have cirrhosis of liver not through alcohol, and now secondary bone cancer. Haven’t had to use lactulose because of getting diarrhoea. So.ndering whether it’s the food I eat? The blander the better I feel, or is my liver getting worse. So fed up with it all. And haven’t even started the cancer treatment.

Noticed from a previous post that your on rifaxomin.Diarrhoea can be a serious side effect and should not be ignored.
Ask your Dr to do a C. Diff stool test.
I have been on for quite a while now and only one at night. But will certainly ask when I see the liver team. Thanks
If the diarrhoea is new and 3 times or more a day you should not wait to see your liver team. You should see a Dr right away.
Roy is absolutely correct.
Whilst rifaximin kills bacteria in the gut, it also significantly alters the rest of the microbe environment in the large intestine. A rare side effect being an increase in toxin-producing pathogens like C. difficile. This normally happens when the rifaximin is stopped (even briefly) or if the dose is not high enough, and very unusually it can just spontaneously happen. Result- serious diarrhea. This doesn't happen to everyone but it needs testing for.
Please stay hydrated, watch your electrolytes and do speak to your Dr if it continues over the next 24hrs.
Hi Muriel - I don't have any advice but just wanted to say I'm sorry you have secondaries in your bones and I hope you start treatment soon. The best of luck. I wish you well. ❤️
Very kind. Thank you
keep your chin up and don't get discouraged, and I agree with Roy, your response is nothing like I've experienced.
