Terry’s Nails?

Do these look like Terry’s Nails to you?

I also have brittle nails on 5 out of 10 of my fingernails. The toes are definitely more pale and seem more white then my fingers. My thumbs seem the palest on my hands. The weird thing is that, my daughter has the same thing on some of her fingers. The difference though is that I am a recently sober person, and I am majorly freaked out about this, to the point where I have barely slept in 4 days.

Hi Smile, it is actually against forum rules to post photos for comment as none of us are qualifed to comment.

That being said Terry's Nails are identified with the whole nail bed going opaque with an absence of lunular (crescent moon). Your photos clearly show that the lunular is present on every nail so unlikely you have Terry's Nails.

However, you obviously have some concerns about your potential for liver problems so it would be wise to discuss this with your medical professional and get some simple tests taken.

Well done on your sobriety, keep that up and hopefully any grumbling that your liver is doing will clear up.

I am sorry about that Katie, I should have looked over the rules before posting. My anxiety is leading my life right now. I really do appreciate your input though. I do have appointments scheduled, but unfortunately they are toward the end of the month, and in the mean time, Googling what I could possibly have has become my hobby and obsession. 😓

Hey, no they don't. Katie is right about your half moons being visible. My nails look similar to yours, and funnily enough, my son (age 4) has similar too. It's easy to get yourself in a state with anxiety over your health, I know I've done it many times, Dr Google is never your friend! Chronic alcohol use can cause other changes in the nails other than Terry's, how long sober are you? Might be worth popping to GP to get your bloods done, give you some peace of mind? X

Thank you for your input Browsingquietly. That actually does make me feel better. I already had anxiety before any of this, so it's just exasperated at this point 😩.

I am very recently sober (today is 1 week at 100% not alcohol), I had cut back leading up to this complete cut off, and taken long breaks in between, but I definitely had not seen my PCP in some time. I have appointments scheduled, but unfortunately they're at the end of the month. I call every day looking for cancellations 😅
