Hi There, I was wondering if anyone could advise me on claiming any benefits, I never went back to work following my lengthy stay in hospital, I did apply for PIP 4 years ago but was turned down, any advice would be great, thank you 😀

Get someone from CAB to help you fill in the PIP claim form, I did and finally got it after being turned down.

Have you tried The Benefits and Advice website? People there claim the site has helped them greatly. I think it costs about a tenner to join but you should be able to check out some of the stories and general advice for free.

CAB or your council welfare rights/income maximizaton team can look at your circumstances and see which benefits you'd qualify to apply for - they'll look at your incomings from all sources and see what you might apply for and CAB may well help you with your applications.

As Peter as mentioned it the Benefits & Work Site which may provide good advice for claims and how to complete forms, provide enough evidence etc. If you are doing it yourself.

benefitsandwork.co.uk (I've used them for all hubbies ESA and PIP claims after we had council support to appeal his first PIP claim). Last few renewals of PIP and his ESA all agreed without need for a face to face examination.

The thing to keep in mind when applying for PIP is to catalogue your worst days/nights not the best. You need to highlight the things you cannot do, while DWP assessors will try to concentrate on the things you can do. It can help to keep a diary for a couple of weeks because it is easy to forget just how bad you felt a few days ago. Also insist on having someone with you for assessment as you can sometimes not remember what you should be telling them, or what information they give you or the questions they ask. One hint...they will ask you the same question in a couple of different ways/wording to check answers...take your time answering to be sure you are telling them everything they need to know. Good luck

Hi there,Fightback4justice are absolutely brilliant.

They do all the form filling for you, will do an MR, (mandatory reconsideration) if needs be, and if it gets as far as appeal, they will prepare all the documents needed.

I used them twice for my husband, both times ended up at tribunal, twice in 3 years.

There solicitor represented in court the last time.

Both decisions were overturned and he was awarded enhanced on both mobility and daily living.

Look at the descriptors carefully and state why you can’t do the activity, and back it up with evidence if possible, and remember the words, safely, repeatedly and in a reasonable amount of time.

A GP summary is helpful, a recent prescription of medication also useful and any evidence letters etc from the hospital.

Make sure you keep copies of everything you send them, and also send it recorded or special delivery.

DWP have a nasty habit of losing forms.

Good luck x

Take care x
