Hi there. I’m looking for feedback regarding the importance of vitamin D when asymptomatic compensated. Are OTC vitamin D supplements safe?
Thank you in advance if you respond.

I cannot answer medically but I have been taking OTC Vit D for years and no doctor has ever questioned it
I have never heard anything bad said about Vitamin D. Ask a dietician or doctor for the correct dose, in some cases even large doses are fine (but I am not a doc so check with one or a nutirition specialist). Good luck! Also ask about various B vitamins and a daily multivitamin! They might presume you naturally take them, but maybe you do not.
Not apropos of liver disease but doctor's advice is that everyone in the Northern hemisphere should take Vit D supplements for mental and physical health as we do not get enough sun. In it's extreme version it can be dangerous, there has been a huge rise in rickets in the UK in recent years where some religions require body coverings that don't allow sun to skin
Hi Quas,
It is always a good idea to check with your own doctors before commencing any new supplements or over the counter vitamins.
Best wishes.
I take a reasonable dose of Vit D...
My lliver consultant diagnosed vitamin D plus calcium because of the link between PBC and osteoporosis
