Has anyone been prescribed fluoxetine for menopause? Just been given them for night sweats and feeling low now and again. Been taking them for a week now and woke up feeling sick and have had a headache most of today and feel extremely tired. Is this normal, would they have started working yet and will they stop my night sweats?

Fluoxetine for menopause?
Hi Dexter. Why GPs are still prescribing antidepressants for the symptoms of the menopause l do not know ! You need to be on some form of HRT which will stop all the symptoms of the menopause. Please go back to your GP to get yourself on it instead of antidepressants which will only make you feel worse.
Have a read of Louise Newson's books about peri and post menopause. It's full of accurate info regarding symptoms, and how the fantastic benefits of taking HRT are in irradicating all of those symptoms and quelling the myth that HRT increases the risk of having breast cancer.
I have been taking Zumenon for the past 13 years and is perfectly safe to stay on for life.
You don't have to suffer.
All the best.
Laura
HRT can be very dangerous for some. The reason for the antidepressants is simply that a lot of women become depressed when they reach that stage in life. Society suggests that the best is behind us now kind of thing.
Talk it through with your GP Dexter, they are the ones with access to your medical history

Hi Dexter,
Do you have a liver diagnosis? you may have posted in the wrong forum?
Best wishes.
My night sweats were cured by Menoforce sage tablets. Absolutely amazing. Completely natural and vegetarian.
