Hi Everyone. Due to my pain, anxiety, and neuropathy, my doctor suggested taking Duloxetine. I read online that you should not take it with liver disease. I already take Lyrica. Any thoughts or suggestions regarding taking it or other safer drugs?? Thanks for your input.

Is it safe to take an antidepressant (Duloxetine or Cymbalta) with liver disease?
It wouldn't be advisable for any one here to offer any advise on safety of any medications. You should discuss this more fully with your doctor - especially in the light of you not yet having a full diagnosis yet.
Ok. Thank you. Just wondered if others were taking it or what were some other options. Sorry for the post.
No need to apologise, it's just that we can't advise and even if people are in a similar boat it doesn't mean what they take is safe for you. Most medications have a label about them not being safe for the liver or to check with your doctor to take if you have a liver condition. Your doctor (with your full medical history to hand) is the only person who should advise you on what is right for you.

I take Cymbalta and have liver disease. I have been taking Cymbalta for decades, it was prescribed to help my fibromyalgia. It did help and also helped my depression. I have been on it ever since as it is very hard to stop and at my advanced age I probably won’t even try. My fatty liver was diagnosed about 4 yrs ago and is now progressed and I have hardening of the liver. I go for another fibroscan in two weeks so we’ll see if my dietary changes have helped. In answer to your question, the specialists I have seen never suggested going off of Cymbalta. Hope this info helps.
I take Wellbutrin but have taken cymbalta for 2 years. I have to say it was the hardest ssri to get off to date. However it did help me. I wish you the best.
