I have been referred for ultrasound - abdomen. What does this show? Thanks

It will check all your abdominal organs - liver, spleen, pancreas (if it can be seen), kidneys and the rest. Also, check for abdominal fluid or anything else of note. I see from your profile that you are on lots of different forums for numerous conditions so they could be checking any number of things.

In liver patients it obviously looks at the liver predominently (but does check other organs too). They can tell a lot from ultrasound though it is a fairly basic scan.

Thanks Katie, I am very nervous about the scan....not the procedure but what it might reveal! Iam one of natures worry warts. Had bloods done today for liver funtion and scan is Saturday week . Yes sat. I didn't know X-ray dept worked on weekends but there you go. Won't be long now, The annoying thing is I feel ok
