Hello, I was diagnosed with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) earlier this year. I am taking ursodeoxycholic acid and all seems to be under control for now.
I had pancreatitis in February this year and had a follow up scan in October.
The scan showed an increase in my pancreatic duct. I had an ultrasound endoscopy and biopsies were taken from my pancreas.
My question is, how long does it take for biopsy results? I had my procedure 2 weeks ago. Many thanks x

Biopsy results often take 2-4 weeks depending if they have to be sent away to another hospital to be tested. Of course, with Covid, many results are taking longer. Could you maybe call your GP's to see how long they are routinely taking in your locality?
Hi, yes I had to wait 4 weeks for my biopsy result, & I only got that cos I rang the secretary to ask & the next day the consultant rang me. I do think everything takes a lot longer now due to so many reasons after the knock on effect of the last 2 years . I’m having my bloods tested for the first time on Christmas Eve since starting Ursodeoxycholic 5 weeks ago & received my follow up letter today for tele conversation about the results , the app is February 2, so a long time to wonder 😉
Thanks for your reply. I will try to be patient and hopefully will get my results before Christmas. Before my biopsy The consultant said, we don't think it's cancer but we need to rule it out. ( wish he hadn't said that!) Ursodeoxycholic acid has really good results so I'm sure all will be well.
