Here Again

I tried so hard to be positive. I stayed away cos I thought it was making my hypochondria worse but here I am.

New bloods done and dr said all satisfactory. Picked a copy up today and bloods like ALT and GtGamma are the same as they were back in Feb. So I’m Feb, April and June dr wasn’t happy with them.

By June/July liver pain had subsided. I’ve had various scans even CT scan in A&E but all day nothing but fatty liver. Have gastro appointment in Jan 22 so waited nearly a year.

How can bloods be satisfactory this time, be exactly the same levels but previously were of concern.

My head is done in

🙏

Maybe the doctor meant that the blood counts didn't get worse in comparison with the previous data?

If you gave a blood test it will be not just AST and GGT but about 30 (or more) things so he must mean all the others are looking good and these two need a bit more time, which is completely normal. I would relax. Just keep doing what you have been doing.

I am NOT a doctor or medical professional, feel free to ignore.

Thanks All bloods fine apart from them two and the markers alt is now 7 points off normal, but Ggt double yo a normal and has been all year. It’s the nagging pain.

See what physio says.

Probably a question best asked by your GP but my guess is that you have satisfactory blood for a diagnosed fatty liver. Which is completely reversible. Just continue what you're doing and continue to be monitored.

What exactly is it you're worried about? Regular blood tests will show if the liver is deteriorating which if its fatty liver and you're doing the right thing shouldn't be the case.

Just the pain really.

I can understand that, but I had liver failure and a transplant with no pain at all, so pain isn't necessarily a sign of bad things.

It's interesting to me though, what kind of pain do you get?

Its on my right side. At waist level. About 2cm in from waist directly above ilia crest bone(I think it’s called) and below the ribs. I do wonder where other people get liver pain (I know it’s not liver that hurts it’s the capsule) but it hurts.

Have had 3 unltasounds, 1 said it was enlarged 2 said fine 1 ct scan a and e said doubt it was enlarged as no sign of any damage to any of my internal organs no gallstones no kidney stones.

I would be as happy as….. but it hurts.

I would be happy that there's no obvious sign of liver damage. The capsule is very sensitive so perhaps the swelling thats been detected is the cause.

Yes I am happy but Ggt stil double than normal, Is that right is that ok? Was the liver ever enlarged? Why did it stop hurting and start hurting 3 weeks ago. In all this time never sen my dr. Texts emails only

I know I am luckier than most never been a massive drinker but been on Leverothyroxine for under active thyroid for 10 years and that slows down the metabolism and I put weight on, that and mid age.

Im now at a regulated weight for me with a 2 stone loss

So why does it hurt

A and e said no way was liver enlarged

It’s a blooming mystery and a pain

Have you had fibrosis testing for your fatty liver?

If you are in the UK, NICE (The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) have devised guidelines with the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) that state people diagnosed with NAFLD should have further testing to assess for their risk of fibrosis- stiffening or scarring in the liver.

The specific blood tests are Fib-4 score blood test or an Enhanced Liver Fibrosis (ELF) blood test. A specific scan called a FibroScan also estimates fibrosis.

No Every time I tell my dr what you say on here they ignore it.

There is NICE guidance to adhere to, maybe print it off? nice.org.uk/guidance/ng49

I went through this all with my Dr in Feb when I first contacted you, they really don’t seem to care. I have not even been able to see one face to face. E mails get lost, phone calls are not allowed to be put through to dr you wait for over an hour to just get to reception.

I’m done with them. Everyone keeps saying dr would push if she thought there was something wrong so stop exaggerating and expecting special treatment.

Hello I paid to see a private consultant who works in nhs at a leading London hospital so very trust worthy. They done my fib-4 score and said it was good. Loose more weight step up the excercise and get BMI under control.

I just don’t know why it hurts. They said there was no need to do any other tests. I took all my blood tests abs scans with me that I have had this year abs they said it will just take time.

I guess the dr are waiting for my hospital appointment that is in Jan that I have waited 12 months for. The drs are not interested.

Keep pushing Seoe I had to.You have to be positive and strong and keep pushing because this waiting game is no good for people with liver disease.
