Hi everyone I have posted in a while so a quick update my husband holding his own his biggest problem is his need for two new knees and the constant pain he is in and his finding walking or even standing so very difficult. His liver seems to be behaving however his iron levels are “worryingly low” to quote his GP. Has anyone got experience of this? He has been put on a low dose iron tablet so as not to cause constipation but he has mentioned a couple of times lately of not feeling right and a couple of times wondering if he should go to hospital which for him is seriously worrying.
Hope everyone doing ok and enjoying what they threaten is the last of the good weather.

Hi Pam. Has hubby been a bit more specific about not feeling right? Iron tablets can cause side effects so it maybe that. What have they now been saying about the chances of knee replacements?
He needs to lose weight and he has lost a couple of stone but not being able to move is making it more difficult and of course having to do it slowly to protect the liver. If he can get his weight down they will operate. He has been fitted for knee braces but they keep slipping down his legs so they have ordered silicon liners in the hope that will hold them in place.
I have just taken him to see his GP who says he has a chest infection and they do not have the latest blood results back to see if the iron tablets are having any effect. So perhaps his feeling off is the infection and not the low iron. She has him on a low dose to prevent constipation but of course that means the positive side of the iron tablets is slower to take effect.
Ah at least there are explanations for everything. I know there is a long waiting list for knee replacements. A friend of mine paid privately for hers as she would have been waiting years. Very expensive but she said it was worth it for not having to wait for years.Yes all good here thanks. Loving the late summer sunshine.
Take care and all the best to you both. Keep us posted.
Hi I’m glad they are trying tablets I had an iron infusion and this time it went badly for me because my liver couldn’t take the iron I ended up quite poorly so I’m glad they are being careful. Good luck to the pair of you and please hope for more good weather I’m just about to have the whole back wall of my bungalow knocked down to build an extension, so not to cold now 🥶.Stay safe All
