Covid -19, still a big risk for some.

Some time ago, I wanted to post up a warning about the various covid vaccines, and of the lack of protection they might offer for some.

Back in April, (not long after I had my first covid-19 vaccine), news began to filter through on the “Royal Free Hospital London, Liver Transplant Support Group” Facebook site, that certain people who had received a kidney transplant were not showing any antibodies after having had the covid vaccine.

Soon, other liver transplant patients also started to report the same lack of covid-19 antibodies even after having had both jabs.

I was told not to post anything up at this time, as certain trials were still ongoing. I knew that the Royal Free, the QE Birmingham, along with Bristol, were all carrying out their own investigations, and that maybe it would be better to wait for confirmation.

I felt at the that there was a danger that certain people may have had both jabs and feel they were now fully protected. So there was a danger of complacency being allowed to grow.

It was therefore possible for those people (like myself) who have a weakened or suppressed immune system not to have any resistance to the covid virus because our bodies weren’t producing any antibodies to fight a possible infection. We were all going about our lives thinking we were fully protected, when in fact we were still at a greater risk.

However, the following news article has now appeared in today’s online Daily Mirror, which now confirms that there is a possible lack of antibodies with some people: mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/8...

I personally still wear a mask when I’m out shopping, and still keep to the now obsolete social distant guidelines. Even though the world and his dog thinks the virus is now over.

There are an estimated 5000 cases linked to the recent Cornish music and surf festival earlier (23 Aug). So, caution is still the best option for those who might be at risk.

Caution and keeping up the precautions is wise for all. I've got a double jagged friend with no immunity issues who has currently got covid. He describes his current illness as like a very heavy cold coupled with aches and pains. The worrying thing was all his lateral flow tests were returning as negative even whilst he had symptoms. He was due to be visiting us this week on holiday and thought it best he got a PCR test just to be on the safe side and knowing hubbies vulnerability. PCR test confirmed positive for covid.

We are still mask wearing when out (still a legal requirement in Scotland anyway), rarely going to shops, still getting home deliveries and very definitely social distancing.

I still wear my mask and keep social distancing, having had COVID last November I don't want any other strains it was far worse than when I had Peumonia, I think everyone should maintain masks and distancing who have low immune system, I go shopping as least as possible I'm lucky to have a husband who shops out of peak times, is become such a strange world, thank you for sharing your post , x

Complacency will cause another lockdown and deaths. It’s prudent to keep to the strict rules of social distancing etc!! Keep safe everyone- it definitely hasn’t gone away!!!

Thanks for sharing Richard, I saw this in the Mirror online yesterday and was glad that I’ve continued to work from home, social distance on the rare occasions I meet friends outside and shop online. It’s good to know that others are feeling and doing the same. I’ve shared this with my boss in the hope that it will prevent any pressure for me to return to the office. I had a antibody test through the Zoe ap and haven’t got any from the disease, but it doesn’t tell you if you have any from the vaccine. Carry on being cautious!

We are still social distancing, mask wearing and sanitising as much as before the fact that rules have relaxed has made no difference to how we act but may have made it harder for us to do so,
