Colonography

Had colonography this morning, no pain or discomfort. I asked was there anything concerning afterwards but they said results have to be sent to consultant and he will write to me, are they being evasive or is this normal?

Person doing the scan is not qualified to interperate the results. That's like asking a garage receptionist to diagnose what's wrong with your car.

Only a Dr that has access to all your health history can do that.

They told me as they were doing it with US, must be different. Thank you Roy. Hope brain fog better for you.

Whilst a colonoscopy is often performed by a gastroenterologist or specialist radiologist with a report being generated the same day (apart from the results of any biopsies taken) A virtual colonoscopy i. e. colonography, cannot be commented on until later because the cross-sectional images generated during a CT scan are reformatted in multiple planes. They can even generate three-dimensional images. So basically the images are processed and only then can a report be produced.

This 'delay' in no way reflects the findings.

It's normal, some used to say but it has to be the Consultant who reads them and then informs you, Glad it went well xxx
