Hi, Husband still yellow, had CT scan just over a week ago, nurse from the QE called today to say he will get a phone consultation tomorrow to explain everything, he is now apparently under the HPB unit, but we don’t know what any of this means, we don’t even know what he has GP has been in touch and has scared me by saying his LFT were high. I’m so worried, what is the HPB unit for. 🥲🥲🥲🥲

Hi 7746 - HPB likely stands for Hepato-billiary (ie. Liver and Bile/BilaryDuct) unit. If your husband is jaundice, it may be that there is something wrong with his liver or damage/blockage in his bile ducts. When you have your appointment, make sure you have a paper and pen next to you - it can be challenging to remember everything, especially when you are worried. Can I also suggest making a list of questions you may want to ask so you don't forget at your appointment. Take care and hope your husband's appointment goes well.

Thank you for your quick reply, I’m so frightened it’s the C word,
Would it help to phone our nurse led helpline? We are here until 3pm today - 0800 652 7330.It's a really worrying time and waiting is awful, there is nothing i can say to help with that bit. Take care and let us know how he gets on.

Even though l would like to, it’s a bit difficult as husband thinks we should just wait, the only symptoms he has are jaundice, dark urine, he has no pain anywhere and is eating even though it gives him indigestion. Xx
