No hospital appointments

I was referred to gastro at local hospital in April. Constant daily pain in upper right abdomen and elevated bloods and very slightly enlarged liver and kidney.

Anyway I booked referral via NHS appointment system and checked it today. It said if I hadn’t heard by May 4th to call them. I done this last month and they said I was on the list.

I thought I’d call them today as they said June/July. I was told that they are no longer taking any new patients. They do not have any dr’s to take clinics and that no new appointments would be sent out for the foreseeable future.

They advised me to go back to GP. I am beside myself and I’m sure that there must be so many other patients who are just waiting for an appointment to drop through the door and who don’t even know their fate yet. They should at least tell people the truth.

Try another hospital.

I'm waiting for an ENT appt, 51 weeks wait when I was referred now 6 months later it's 63 week wait !! Yet a friend who is also waiting for ENT tried a different hospital and was given an appt within a month !

Thankfully my Gastro dept is pretty good.

I could have chosen a hospital back in April with a 78 day wait but I choose a smaller one thinking I might get seen quicker as it was a non covid hospital. Seems I made the wrong choice.
