Feeling bad after anesthesia

Hello all. I had a colonoscopy done yesterday and they gave me an anesthetic. Propofol I believe . My Gastro was aware of my fatty liver beforehand and told me it should be fine. The day after I am feeling run down , like a truck hit me. I’m wondering if I am jaundice (chalk that up to anxiety I guess). My Prep was a two day liquid diet which had me weak to begin with . Now I couldn’t even finish my workout today . I feel horrible . I’m hoping I didn’t damage my liver in the process of looking out for my colorectal health. Smh such a conundrum . Well my question is , has anyone been given an anesthetic like this and how long does this take for the liver to bounce back ?

It is no surprise that you are exhausted after a colonoscopy like you say you had next to no calories through your system before hand then you've had the sedation. It ALWAYS takes my hubby a day or two to get over the sedation he has for regular endoscopies (he sleeps most of the first day). There is no way he could be thinking about doing a 'workout' today and you've probably over done it. A day off rigorous exercise wouldn't go amiss.

You'll bounce back I am sure, just listen to your body and let it recover from the procedure.

Thank you for the response Katie. You are correct . I most likely did too much too soon and my body is responding to the stress of it all.

If you have has a general anaesthetic it really would be a good idea to rest today, did the endoscopy department give you some discharge information advising what to do and what not to do?

If you are concerned, then we would suggest you contact your doctors.

Best wishes.

Thanks for your response . They really only have me my follow up info. Nothing that really explained anything post procedure .

If you were given a general anaesthetic there would normally be info given to take home on discharge. Can you maybe call your GP or the endoscopy department you attended?

Definitely need a few days to recover from a GA and a Colonoscopy, both will have an impact on how you feel.

Thanks bantam. I guess I’m still pretty new to this liver disease stuff . I was jus diagnosed two years ago and some things like this still take me by surprise. Your response is appreciated.
