Is it safe to take milk thistle to detox the liver
Milk thistle : Is it safe to take milk... - British Liver Trust
Milk thistle
Good Morning Cassie. I'm not sure why you feel your liver needs detoxing? I've replied to a similar post to this, please take a look at my reply to Northumberland14's post entitled "Liver cleansing". Also take a look at the British Liver Trust's advice on this matter: britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...
Good Luck
Richard.
Hi Cassie. I am amazed people are still asking about this. Read Richards post re liver cleansing.... any unregulated and unprescribed costly suppliments such as milk thistle are a big NO NO. They can cause as much damage to a struggling liver as alcohol can. I was appalled the other day when l saw Holly and Phil laughing about their recent drinking bout, followed by Phil saying take milk thistle it's great for a hangover !!!
It truly isn't.
Just eat healthily, avoid alcohol (if you do or have been a drinker) drink plenty of water and get fresh air and exercise. Allow it time and that's all your liver needs to recover.
Take care.
Laura
Hi Cassie,
The British Liver Trust does not recommend the use of homeopathic or herbal remedies for those with any liver problems as these have to be processed by the liver and could actually damage the liver.
More research needs to be done on the use and safety of such remedies and therapies.
If you are considering using complementary or alternative remedies &/or therapies always discuss this with your doctor.
