Liver not functioning after tumor and part of affected liver removed - seeking advice & support

Hello, can anyone share their experiences with complications after surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in the liver? My sister is very ill, currently in the ICU in critical condition because her liver is not functioning after having the large tumor removed. The tumor was larger than expected and she has experienced complications: pneumonia, low kidney function. Has anyone experienced this, is their hope that over time this can improve? Is there anything that you did to helped improve liver function. Desperately seeking help. 🙏🏽

I would suggest you liaise with the ICU team that are caring for her- they should be able to give you up to date information about her condition. I know it can be very challenging with the restrictions on visiting just now.

I am really sorry your sister is so ill and I hope she makes a good recovery. I don't know much about this topic, but I am glad Trust9 is here to give some advice.

I know that if the liver cancer is Stage 2, a liver transplant is sometimes done, and this can be very successful.
