Jaundice question

I recently quit alcohol again after a holiday relapse/binge and started afterwards to feel like I was having my eyes/face turning a yellow tinge. No other symptoms really, urine and feces are pretty normal. I saw the doctor yesterday to express my concern though. He looked me over and at my history and tests and didn’t seem too concerned. He said the fix was just eat right, avoid liver stressing foods and sugar and keep staying sober with absolutely no alcohol and it will clear up as my levels go down. I don’t have cirrhosis but has anyone had a similar situation? It’s making me self conscious even though I guess as jaundice goes it’s pretty mild. I can’t wait for it to be gone and for now it’s a reminder that if I drink again next time will be worse.

There are hundreds of posts on here of people going through the same as you and the replies are the same as what your doc has said.... eat healthily, drink plenty of water, get plenty of exercise and STOP DRINKING. By following this advice, your liver can heal completely but not if you keep punishing it with an unhealthy lifestyle. You won't get "tinges" of yellow, it will be full on with cirrhosis. If in doubt please look at the photos Ash posted yesterday there is a clear obvious difference.

Yes I saw those. Mine isn't as bad as his before one but definitely doesn't look like "me" anymore. Hopefully with time and effort I can look more like his after picture, and like the old me. It's like my face is dull and grey/yellow and my eyes too right now.

Amazes me how desensitized some doctors can be. Just their run of the mill patient with potentially fatal symptoms.. Nothing to worry about.. Keep on top of it man. My doctor doesn't seem worried either, but I sure as hell am. All of my labs and tests came back "normal" but that isn't enough for me. Cirrhosis can be missed on ultrasound. From what I've read it's about 30% effective for well compensated stage 1. Doctor thinks I'm crazy but I'm sure he'd be doing the research too if he were in my shoes. Regardless, enough for me to give up that poison after a solid decade. Good luck man!

While your liver is at the fatty stage there is nothing the doctors can to do for you other than advise you on how to get your liver to heal and regenerate itself after it has been mistreated through poor diet and /or alcohol. The solution is simple, eat healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise and give up alcohol. If you struggle to give up, see a councellor, they will make a manageable plan for you to follow. Then allow it time to rest and heal. It's up to you to stop poisoning your liver you are the only 1 who can cure it, not the doctors, even if you think they can and should.

That's not my issue Laura, but thanks for the support. Been alcohol free and on the best diet of my life for over a month now. I was talking about a personal experience with my GP in the USA. I suppose this wasn't the proper place to post it.
