Hi,

Hi,I found out I had PBC when I was pregnant, although no one knows if I had it before I got pregnant, there’s a chance I did so technically yes I conceived with PBC. I started Urso as soon as I found out I had PBC and was on the highest dose possible too, I also took rifampicin but not for long as it didn’t do anything good for my blood results. My baby although born prematurely is absolutely fine and for the most part I trusted what my obstetrician was doing, in my case we just couldn’t get bile acid levels under control so had to get baby out 8 weeks early.
When prescribing medicines your healthcare provider will take into account what is best for you and the baby, whilst trying to keep you both safe.
Oh thank you so much sharing. Is your baby okay was the medication causing effects to the baby?
Yes he was absolutely fine, he’s now 2 and a half years old and doing really well. The only issues we had were due to his prematurity and nothing to do with the medication I was taking at the time x
That’s so beautiful, thank you for sharing. I’m so happy your son is happy n healthy...
Hi
I had my daughter four years ago without knowing that I had PBC, so to answer your question, yes can definitely Conceive with PBC.. because I didn’t know I had PBC back then ( Doctors didn’t know either) I was not taking anything... I wish I knew that I had this disease back then as I would have reconsidered getting pregnant as giving birth would have put my liver and body through alot of stress. I was told I had PBC for MANY years without knowing as the GP over looked abnormal blood tests results for many years!! ☹️
Plus because of PBC I feel fatigue therefore don’t have the full energy to play with my little girl as much as I wanted to.
But I am only speaking from my circumstances , I don’t have any family help, you’re family situation might be better.
Good luck 🙂
I’m so sorry to hear about your family situation. I have a daughter I raised her on my own for 10 yrs I married 2018 I was diagnosed with PBC the same year I’m grateful him... I don’t know how I’d cope on my own...
My family are not that involved in all honesty. But I’m so blessed I have great people around me... there able to help with my daughter. Like you I’m not able to do much activities or outings with her..
