Hi I’m concerned for my husband I think he has hepatic encephalopathy! He drinks everyday, Christmas Day I worked I got home at 2.30 pm he was wasted 😡 he completely ruined mine and my sons day. He had 2 bottles of gin over two days! He’s abusive and aggressive to us both . Reading the symptoms which he has a lot of he’s spent the day in bed yesterday. I love him but can’t carry on living like this he won’t go to the Dr . Any advice please x

If he is behaving in a confused manner, slurring his speech, unsteady on his feet, arguing with you, possibly halucinating too it is highly likely he has HE. You need to call 999 as he needs urgent attention and treatment. HE is the toxins from the alcohol in his blood stream and brain. If left untreated it could prove fatal. Please act now. Good luck

Hi,

We are sorry to read of the situation you are in, it must be very hard.

If you think your husband has HE, a doctor needs to medically review him as soon as possible.

You may also want to think about some ongoing support for yourself and your son. Al-Anon Family Groups is still available to provide support to anyone whose life is, or has been, affected by someone else’s drinking.

Take care.

I threw my alcoholic husband out in the end, he moved back in with his Mother. Finally he realised what he was going to lose and that's what stopoed him drinking. But he had left it too late.

Telev Sometimes situations are complex and people need a lot of support and help to enable them to safely leave a relationship.

Hopefully this member has the support she needs to keep safe.
