my husband has cirrhosis, we don’t know much, he’s had the tube down his throat and a scan, theres not any acites and the liver has scarring, no cysts or tumours. We went for a walk, thru park to shops, it’s very cold, sun shining, he’s wrapped up, gloves, warm jacket, he starts to shake and shiver, said he’s cold, we get home, I’ve got a blanket over him, he’s still shaking, then wants to get in bed with blankets on, to get warm. He hadn’t eaten anything, all day( it was 4pm) I thought flu starting as he got up, was ok, then got warm and sweaty, I thought flu, so I gave him 2 paracetamol, he was ok for the rest of the evening. Same happened yesterday, went for walk thru park to town, he got shivery and cold, couldn’t heat up again for a good while, is this a symptom or is he just cold? I’m really worried as he’s had pneumonia in the past and I feel it’s his core(general?) temperature that seems not ok, thankyou for ready, it’s a bit long👍

cold an shaking for an hour after walk!
Hi I hope you husband is feeling better now and that he has warmed up. I am always cold. Some medications have a side effect of making you more susceptible to the cold. Plenty of layers with regards to clothing, hot drinks and recently I have turned to a good old fashioned water bottle!!
Maybe your husband had low glucose levels when he felt unwell on the walk. This can make you feel shaky, weak and generally not right. Maybe a good idea to at least have a snack before going out walking.
I hope you are taking good care of yourself too. I read your bio and a bottle of wine every day is a lot of units of alcohol and can make your liver very unhappy 🙁
Thankyou for your kind comments, I appreciate them! I’m checking on the snack first, he’s wearing the tog jacket and gloves and scarf, he was a lot better on todays walk.x
For me, cutting downs not a goer. I’ve joined many things, hypnotherapy from , clear minds( I think!) + lots of mindful podcasts etc, since beg of the year I’m following” sober in seven!” It’s a Freedom program, very thought provoking and helpful for me. They have a. Deal at present, I’m pleased to say that I’m working happily with this. It’s by a man called Andy Smith, he’s credible and believable. So , I’m a work in progress, I’m always trying to look after our health, good nutrition and water is the aim of the game, we’re taking lots of fresh fruits too, thankyou so much for taking the time- oh , and I’m doing way too much sugar-nada from shops tomorrow, actually lookin for a book about cutting sugar from the diet, any ideas we’ll received.
Thankyou again, 👍
my partner gets these strange episodes where he gets shaky and sweats and he needs to eat. He’s feels them coming in and it’s usually when we have been walking. He’s discussed with consultant who says it’s nothing to worry about just to eat something and rest. I wonder if it is similar?
my hubby has had this too in the past , he is diabetic but with medication controlled , his BP was a bit off too , he was always cold, I make him graze as in eating little and often with protein added , even if it’s just a Greek yoghurt. I hope he improves, (my hubby has thank goodness) and I’m sure he will , take care and try not to worry too much as not everything is liver related although once diagnosed we do put everything down to it , x
I had a similar experience before Xmas just started to shiver with severe cold put winter dressing gown on over my thick clothes got a hot water bottle, just couldn’t stop shivering had toothache as well went to bed early well rapped up with hot water bottle. Next day all gone has not happened again. Strange hope yours goes as well. All the best.
Many thanks to all those replies to my husbands chills, he's seen a doctor, it has been ongoing, gone -not gone, still not eating too much, lots of sleeping, very worrying!
Doc said, bps etc all ok, I said, oh the bps a bit low, he takes meds for hbp, doc said not to give bp tabs for 10 days or so until fully recovered, he thinks a gastro bug! ( low bp makes you sleep more?) he said he's ok, just keep hydrated, and rest well.
Again, Thankyou all for words of support and possibles, you're a great help, its a great forum,Liz
